Brian would have 7 back to back wins that included last minute submissions and knockouts. In 2018, he lost due to doctor stoppage by the referee after the fourth round against Max Hollway. After hand
surgery and months of healing, he made the hard decision to switch out his camp due to differences and toxic behavior.

Right now, I’m trying to gain all the inches and enjoying this. I could lose all these fights coming up, but with what I have now with this team and how we operate, I feel happy and it’s great to be able to say that.
Nearly 2 years later on October 18, 2020, Brain came out with a dominant victory over the Korean Zombie (Chan Sung Jung) and will fight against the current Featherweight Champion, Alexander Volkanovski.
Brain’s goal is to use the limelight in the Octagon to build his organization The Brian Ortega Foundation and give back to youth and families.
